Jen Levins joined SoundSense LLC as a Senior Engineer in 2013. Her areas of expertise include architectural acoustics, acoustic separation, interior room acoustics, HVAC noise control, vibration, and acoustic testing.
Jen’s notable projects at SoundSense LLC are the Graham Residence in New York, NY for which she assisted on the design of new windows to reduce intrusion of exterior noise, the Montessori School on West 22nd Street in New York, NY which was designed in accordance with the ANSI standard for classroom acoustics, and the Salvation Army Bensonhurst in Brooklyn, NY which included acoustic design for a new facility featuring classrooms, music rooms, and a chapel. She also worked on the full acoustic design for the Altman Residence in Miami Beach, FL.
Prior to joining SoundSense, Jen was a consultant at Metropolitan Acoustics in Philadephia, PA where she worked on The Reeds at Shelter Haven, a five-star hotel, in Stone Harbor, NJ, GlaxoSmithKline Radex Leadership Hub, an open-plan executive suite, in Upper Merion, PA, and the Shaeffer Auditorium at Kutztown University in Kutztown, PA. The latter was a renovation of the performing arts facility including the auditorium, a band rehearsal room capable of holding the 150-piece marching band, and classrooms. Jen’s first position out of college was as a consultant at Bernhard, Shipps Associates in Moorestown, NJ where she worked on the Arlington Emergency Call Center in Arlington, VA and The Barn at The Willow School in Gladstone, NJ.
Jen received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from University of Hartford in 2006. She majored in Acoustics Engineering and Music. Jen is a member of the Acoustical Society of America and the Institute of Noise Control Engineers. She presented “A Holistic Approach to Room Design for Hearing Impaired Populations” at the International Congress on Acoustics 2013 in Montreal, Canada. In her free time she enjoys music, photography, and writing.
